Set Your Business Apart With A Unique Selling Proposition

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By Joe Love Unless your company has absolutely no competition now or in the forseeable future, you’re well advised to find and develop a unique selling proposition (USP) that differentiates your business from all of your competitors. For you to succeed, you have to identify and understand what you or your business does or can start doing for your prospects and customers that provides them with a result that is superior to the competition’s. This is called your unique selling proposition (USP). Your unique selling proposition is the distinct advantage or benefit that sets your business apart from the competition. Your unique selling proposition can be quality, service, speed, convenience, experience, low prices, selection, or any other attribute you want your company to be known for. The important thing to remember is that before you can get a greater share of the market, you first have to get a greater share of your prospect’s mind. And you can do this by selecting and developing a unique selling proposition. Your unique selling proposition should be one that is a natural benefit offered by your business. Never offer a USP that is false. For example, if you are a high-priced consultant or run a high-line retail store, you shouldn’t consider lower prices as your unique selling proposition. Here are a few examples of possible USPs: 1. A broader selection. 2. Bigger discounts. 3. Better advice and assistance. 4. More convenience (location, quick service, immediate delivery, Web site). 5. Top-of-the-line products. 6. Faster service. 7. Service above and beyond the basics. 8. A longer and more comprehensive warranty or guarantee than the norm. 9. Providing superior quality. 10. Any other distinct advantage or benefit you can give that the competition doesn’t. The possibilities for building a USP are unlimited. The important point, is to focus on one niche, need, or gap that is most sorely lacking in the marketplace. It’s best, however, to adopt a USP that dynamically addresses an obvious void in the marketplace that you can fill. Above all, never adopt a USP that you cannot fulfill the promise for. In choosing a unique selling proposition, keep three factors in mind, your competition, your target audience, and your operation. Make sure you pick a unique selling propostion that fits well with all three. All of your marketing should create a deeper connection between your company and your unique selling proposition. For example, you can choose quality as your USP, while still promoting your service and location. But you’ve got to communicate the idea of quality in all your marketing, from your sales presentations to your direct mail letters, from your advertising to your Web site. When your prospects think of your company, they should think of quality. And make sure you consistently deliver quality in everything you sell and do. If you don’t offer a clear and meaningful unique selling proposition, you’re business will stand for nothing. For example, if a business just offers a convenient location, why should they get much patronage if they fail to offer any appealing promise, unique benefit, or special service? Customers expect to be treated with special regard in exchange for their business. Successful companies study their market looking for unoccupied niches. That’s why they own a large part of the respective market. These companies realize that many products and service categories are vulnerable in areas that no one has filled. So they fill and claim the niche for themselves. And they do whatever is necessary to live up to their unique selling propostion. The small number of businesses that actually develop and incorporate a unique selling proposition always own a larger share of the market then those without one. By developing a unique selling proposition and incorporating it into every aspect of your business you’ll have a major advantage over your competition. Bachelor Degree: Public Relations

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Michael Russell There are many ways to begin a career in public relations. Contrary to popular belief, people who are ‘talkative’ may not necessarily do well in this field. You need much more than the ability to speak articulately in a language to succeed in public relations. Apart from good language ability, you also need good written and communication skills, the ability to work with different groups of people with different needs and abilities, enthusiasm and initiative as well as the ability to work independently. While a bachelor degree specializing in public relations is not a must for most organizations, people who want to be involved in such work should have a communications, law, business or language qualification. Other than paper qualifications, bachelor degree graduates with some work experience in customer relations and client servicing will have an edge over others. Once you get the job, in order to advance your career, you need to keep abreast of the current news related to your industry, develop good working relations with the target news media, prepare good promotional materials and internal communications, represent the organization well to key groups as well as demonstrate self-confidence and enthusiasm for motivating people. Public relations is fast paced and at times unpredictable. Depending on the type of organization you work for or represent, certain events may happen that will throw your schedule out of the window. As a new bachelor degree graduate, you need to know how to learn on the job and adapt quickly to your working environment. There is normally simple training given so you need to demonstrate a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm and to ask for things to do. Public relations practitioners are required to do many things so you get to enjoy a lot of variety in your work. You will be meeting different people for different purposes and traveling extensively. However, you may need to work long or odd hours and perhaps even two to three weeks at a stretch when a deadline for a project draws near. When something goes wrong, you need to be able to think and act quickly to solve the problem. In public relations, damage control or crisis management is very much part and parcel of the work. Public relations involves many activities; hence, in a public relations undergraduate course, students will be exposed to activities like promotion, publicity, public affairs, research, graphics, advertising and marketing communications as well as mass media communication, public speaking, organizational behavior, integrated marketing communications, corporate communications, media law and ethics, media writing skills as well as consumer behavior and branding. Public relations practitioners work in service industries like public relations firms or consultancies, advertising agencies, healthcare organizations, educational institutions and government agencies while some consultants are self-employed Major employers for public relations practitioners include businesses, government agencies, universities, hospitals and other larger organizations that require their own in-house public relations department. There are also public relations agencies for consultancies that provide services to clients locally and internationally. Michael RussellYour Independent Bachelor Degree guide. By Julia Dormund Four Ways to Win THE RIGHT FOOD, AT THE RIGHT TIME, IN THE RIGHT AMOUNT, WITH THE RIGHT EXERCISE I am a 35 year old 250 pound female (one month ago I was 260 pounds). I have battled with weight loss from the age of eight years old. After reading and researching and implementing I recognized a few things needed to win the battle and I will share them with you. DO NOT hate your fat cells. They are wonderful. They are designed for an important function. They make fat from sugar and fatty acids. If they need more room for storage space, they expand. If they need still more, they make new cells and fill them with fat. They are marvels at storing energy in the form of fat. Its their specialty. In one pound they can store 3,500 calories, though the liver can pack only 250 calories in a pound of its energy-storage medium, glycogen. Fat cells receive and obey signals. They cushion vital organs. They release their energy upon demand, supplying it as fuel for the bodys working cells. At times they receive emergency signals and spring into action. When sent life-threatening messages, they take lifesaving measures. They start hoarding their fat, holding it in reserve for the impending crisis. It is now clear that fat plays an important, though incompletely understood role, in the bodys immune system. Fat cells can receive a false message and misinterpret it as a crisis; a crash diet may send fat cells the same message as would famine or starvation. Instead of fat breaking down, it is actually conserved, curtailing the release of calories to a trickle. But the fat cells have no way of knowing the difference. They react as they were designed to react. They hoard their energy for what they foresee as a future and more crucial need than the present. Parents magazine for March 1987 offers a possible explanation: The more often you dietthe more frequently your body senses youre gearing up for a faminethe more resistant the fat cells become to releasing their precious commodity. The body intervenes to cope with the current crisis by turning muscle into glucosethe brain must have its glucose or the whole organism will close shop! But you do not want to lose muscle; you want to lose fat. Crash diets are not the winning way. Then what is? The winning ways, plural, are: the right food, at the right time, in the right amount, with the right kind of exerciseand the right mental attitude. The dieter himself must be in the drivers seat. Whether you reach your goal or not is up to you. Some nutritionists are now coming around to the conviction that the body has less tendency to accumulate fat deposits if meals are eaten more frequently and served in smaller portionswithout a reduction in the daily food intake. They have also found that the meal which is most important and should therefore make the largest caloric contribution to a persons day is breakfast. Eat a variety and eat enough. You have learned what will happen if you panic the fat cells by stingy eating! On a weight-loss experiment, rats were given only one meal a day. During the study, their enzymes responsible for depositing fat increased tenfold. The report said: It was as if their bodies were saying, The minute more food comes along, Im ready to lay down extra fat just in case this stress happens to me again! So if you have to diet, dont make the mistake of fasting or eating just one meal a day (essentially a 23-hour fast). In any effective weight control program, exercise is essential. Regularity of exercise is more important than intensity.Conns Current Therapy. Spot the triggers that start you eating when you shouldnt. Know the excuses you use to weaken your good resolves. Say no to them immediately! Reject them angrily! Win the war, lose the fat, cherish the victory! Tips on Buying an Annuity Leads

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Brian Maroevich Before you buy annuity leads it’s important to consider the following: What is the reputation of the annuity lead generation company? Make sure they have references you can call to be sure that the annuity leads they sell are qualified. Otherwise you may be spending your hard earned money on lousy leads. Do a search for forums in the area of insurance and financial planning and ask other insurance agents and financial planners about the company you are considering. What kind of leads are you buying? Are you buying Internet leads or are the leads you are buying generated through off-line direct marketing efforts? If they are generating leads on the Internet, ask the lead generation company how they go about their process. Ask them if you can be directed to a web site that they are using to attract annuity prospects. If the site they direct you to looks professional and gives you a warm fuzzy feeling, chances are your prospect feels the same way. If they are generating leads through direct marketing efforts ask them if they can supply you with details and sample marketing pieces. If not, ask them if they can provide you with a sample lead. Once again, if you feel like they are investing in their lead generation efforts, you have a better chance of getting your money’s worth. Do they specialize in the annuity leads, or are they a lead generation company for many different industries? If the company you are considering has their hands in several different industries, they may be spreading themselves thin. On the other hand, if they specialize in financial services you may be working with a company that is focused on getting better quality annuity leads. Is it the price or the cost? In the lead generation business, you usually get what you pay for. If one company offers annuity leads for five dollars and another company offers annuity leads for $30, you have to wonder how qualified the lower priced annuity leads are. The price may be five dollars, but the cost may be your time and effort on a poor quality lead that will never convert into a client. When it comes to buying annuity leads, its important to do your due diligence before you spend your hard earned money with a lead generation company. Not only can you lose money, but you may also lose your valuable time and energy. Brian Maroevich is a successful webmaster and contributing author for http://www.insurance-leads-advisor.com. Auvergne Gastronomy- Hearty Cuisine - Winter Warmers For Hikers And St Nectaire-The Best Of Cheeses

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

By JS Selfe The Auvergne is a largely mountainous region in central France, part of the Massif Central. In summer the climate is hot and dry - ideal for walking, hiking and horse-riding, while winters are comparatively harsh - making ideal conditions for skiing. So the gastronomy of the region is geared to satisfying hearty appetites. Auvergne Cuisine Soupe de Nol is made by boiling chunks of stale crusty bread to salted water until the water has reduced, when pieces of St Nectaire cheese are added. The mixture is stirred until the cheese has melted, then thick crme fraiche is added just before serving. Truffade is a hearty dish made by cooking potato slices in duck fat before adding grated Cantal or St Nectaire cheese. Once the cheese is melted it is ready to eat. Aligot another hearty dish is creamed potato to which Cantal cheese is added. When the cheese has melted to the point where when the spoon is lifted from the pan the cheese forms stretchy strings it is ready to eat. Tripes and tripoux are delicious tripe and red wine dishes, while chou farci is cabbage stuffed with a delicious minced pork and breadcrumb stuffing. Coufidou is a wonderfully rich beef stew with an aromatic coriander seed sauce. Auvergne cheeses such as Cantal, Salers, St Nectaire, Tme d’Auvergne and Bleu d’Auvergne are renowned worldwide. However the gastronomy of the area is less well-known. St Nectaire, “the best of cheeses”, won the Sun King’s admiration when it was was introduced to the court of Louis IV the Marchal de France Henry de Sennectre. It us usually enjoyed at the end of a meal, though it is also sometimes used in salads or in tarte au Saint-Nectaire, truffade and soupe de Nol (Christmas soup). Red wine is accompanies it well; perhaps a Bourgogne or Pomerol The area of the St Nectaire AOC (appelation d’origine controle) is one of the smallest in France, within the Puy de Dme and the Cantal, the cheese taking it’s distinctive flavour from the great diversity of wild flowers and aromatic herbs to be found in the Auvergne pastures. The traditional “St Nectaire Fermier” cheese is made from raw milk twice a day, after each milking. The young cheese is made in a mold of 21cm, (13cm for the “petit St Nectaire”) wrapped in cloth and pressed for 24 hours. The cheese is washed in a saline solution and then in clear water each day for a fortnight. It is then turned regularly for the following three or four weeks. The cheese is marked with an oval plaque. The “St Nectaire Laitier” cheese is made from raw or pasturised milk. The cheese is marked with an square plaque. During the summer months of July and August many villages sre host to Marchs de Pays, when local producers set up stalls selling their produce, prepared ready to eat: aligot, truffade, charcuterie, meat dishes, cheeses, deserts, wines… so that all may compose a meal of their choice and dine in convivial company with neighbours, friends and visitors at trestle tables set up for the occasion in and around the village hall… the ideal end to a day’s outing in the Auvergne. A particularly lively march de pays is held at Champs sur Tarentaine in the Artense. Rockhounding Doesn’t Stop In Winter

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Sally Taylor Winter is here for rock and treasure hunters in the North. Looking out of my window today, I can see the snow caps on the mountains near by. I really can’t complain too much. My home hasn’t been turned into the inside of an aquarium or been swept away, so I can consider myself fortunate. Nonetheless, I am a rockhound, and for a rockhound winter is never all that welcome. Chiseling rocks frozen to hillsides out of the ice is not completely unknown to me, but it’s not thebest of rockhound experiences by all means. Winter doesn’t have to be a dead time of year for us though. By organizing the phases of yourrecreation to the different seasons, you will find you have much more time in your huntingseasons to actually hunt. Your hunts will be more productive as well if you use your down seasonfor learning, planning, crafting, and selling. Now is the perfect time to browse the libraries and old maps and books to plan our trips for nextsummer. Local museums often contain many old maps and pictures that can be used to researchareas that there is little time to research during the summer This is also the perfect time of year tojoin clubs and attend seminars or classes that you were reluctant to give up time outdoors for inbetter weather. These activities will not only teach you more about your chosen recreation, theywill also allow you to meet others with the same interests that you can exchange site informationwith or plan outings with. Rocks that have been tucked away during the summer months can now be conveniently broughtout, cleaned, classified, and crafted as well. Cold, rainy or snowy days were just made for gettogethers with other rockhounds to craft your finds. With Christmas just around the corner youmay be able to get some ideas from other rockhounds about what kind of gifts you can make fromyour summer caches. Displaying and selling your crafts and any finds labeled for sale you canalso gain funding for a winter trip or next season’s hunts. For those of you in the south who are looking out your window and thinking about how great it isthat hunting season is coming your way, it’s now time to shake off the winter duldrums. Whileyou’re hunting season gets under way, we hope you will think of us in the north and send us somepictures of your finds and information about the areas you are hunting in down there. You justnever know when some of us will decide that enough is enough and head south to hunt in areasthat we wouldn’t have ventured to during the blast of the summer sun. 2005 Sally Taylor: Sal is an avid gem and treasure hunter, explorer, writer, and is the owner of http://www.rockhoundstation1.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Sally_Taylor http://EzineArticles.com/?Rockhounding-Doesnt-Stop-In-Winter&id=106205 buying other diflucan where online have generic other diflucan a without take prescription their diflucan or online because overnight like florida both 150mg did diflucan should online there order like

Consumer Protection in the Form of a Used Car Lemon Law

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Earl Powers Lemon law was created to protect consumers from faulty and defective automobiles. Used car lemon law refers to legal support to consumers from buying used cars that turn out to be lemons. According the used car lemon law, the dealer needs to provide a written warranty. The written warranty as per used car lemon law ensures that the dealer shall repair, free of charge, any defects in covered parts or, at the dealer’s option, provide reimbursement for the reasonable costs of such repairs. If the dealer is unable to repair the car after a reasonable number of attempts, then according to the used car lemon law consumer is entitled to a full refund of the purchase price. Several norms govern the enactment of the used car lemon law. Different states have different used car lemon law. Some states in United States do not enforce used car lemon law. Various norms for used car lemon law are that the vehicle should have been purchased, leased or transferred after eighteen thousand miles of operation or two years from the date of original delivery, whichever occurs earlier. The vehicle under used car lemon law should also have been leased from the same state where the law is enforced. The purchase price of the vehicle under used car lemon law should have been purchased or leased at least at a price of $1500. The vehicle should be primarily for personal use and should have been driven 100,000 miles or less at the time of purchase or lease. According the used car lemon law it should be primarily for personal use or for the use of family or household purpose. Used car lemon law is not applicable to cars purchased from individuals or independent sellers. Under the used car lemon law, a dealer is any person or business which sells or leases a used car after selling or leasing three or more used cars in the previous twelve month period. Banks or other financial institutions, except in the case of a lease, are not included. Similarly, a car purchased from a retail auto auction is also covered. In such a case the auction company should be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles. During any sales by an auction company or the dealer, the seller must provide the lemon law warranty at the time or before the sale. In cases where a dealer fails to give you the written lemon law warranty, the dealer is nevertheless considered to have given the warranty and you are entitled to all the protections under the law. The used car lemon law sets only the minimum obligation for the dealers. However, a dealer may choose to provide additional warranty or may limit the coverage of the vehicle under warranty. The exclusion may include service or repair asked for due to consumer negligence, vandalism negligence, collision, abuse or theft, etc. Exclusion can also be for motor tune-up or repairs asked if the odometer has been tampered. There can be other several exclusions depending upon the dealers warranty provided. Different states have different contact points or toll free numbers where the consumer can obtain free information about used car lemon law. One needs to check out the contact numbers for a particular state where the used car lemon law needs to be enforced. Wedding Reception Entertainment - Choose Wisely

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

By Rob Alberti When planning your wedding, what type of entertainment are you looking for? A comedian? A clown? A 3-ring circus? Of course not you are looking for high quality entertainment that is tailored to your vision for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Your wedding reception entertainment should tie together all the things you have been dreaming of for many, many months. When it is time to look for wedding reception entertainment, you need to consider many aspects. Cost may seem to be your highest priority at first, but as you weed through the list of considerations, you will need to find someone you trust to keep your special day flowing smoothly. Tacky rhetoric, shoddy equipment, or lack of music to please your guests should not ruin your picture-perfect day. You will want a DJ with a high quality, and guaranteed, sound system. The entertainment must provide a wide range of music to offer all your guests music they are requesting. You want a DJ who will listen to your wishes and make suggestions, not mandates, as to how the reception should flow. You want experienced wedding entertainment people who know the pitfalls from years of past experience - and can handle little emergencies as they arise with grace and professionalism. Your DJ/MC will weave all the activities of your reception into a tapestry of memories to be remembered for a lifetime. From the moment you arrive at your reception, your DJ will orchestrate the perfect dance between music, generations, customs, and cultures. Your wedding entertainment is more that just entertainment; it is the life-blood of your reception. Planning your wedding entertainment carefully pays off more than you might expect. Your care when selecting the best wedding entertainment possible will ensure that in turn, your entertainment can attend to all the little details and make your day perfect in every way. What She Really Means When She Says, “I Want A Man To Protect Me”

Friday, August 17th, 2007

By Scot McKay I dont know how many times Ive heard a woman say she wants to be protected by a man. Stereotypically, I tend to think of a petite little cutie uttering these words, either because she has a genuine concern that lawless thugs are going to be attempting to whack her, or because shed just rather not break a nail fending them off. Whatever mental picture we have, its safe to say that most of us guys assume that a woman is talking about being physically protected from harm by others when she talks like thisthanks, of course, to our manly presence as a deterrent. Sure. Women want a bodyguard, right? Not so fast. Ive heard women talk like this who know how to defend themselves quite well, thank you. So whats up with that? If more of us guys would seek to better understand what drives a womans frame of mind here, I think we would be amazed. Make no mistake, I dont question that most women would think its nice to have a man around when they hit the ATM machine late at night, or something like that. But, lets be realisticthats not the kind of priority a woman is putting near the top of her wish list when it comes to finding a mate. Look closely at the language a woman uses when she expresses the sentiment of being protected. She may phrase it as, I want him to keep me safe. I want to feel secure when he is with me. Most of the time women are talking about very similar desiresand it goes MUCH deeper than mere physical protection from outside influences. Yeppers. Women are talking about a more general feeling of safety here. They dont want a goon who can beat up people for her, they want to be safe at all times, and in every situation. If this sounds like a formidable plan for a guy to pull off, it is. No worriesI have six simple steps to making a woman feel protected that any guy can learn. Learning these should make the process easier for you. Thats why Im here, isnt it? 1) Avoid Dangerous Situations Women want to feel confident that they will get home in one piece from a date. So, guys, if you make a habit of saying, Uhhey, watch this! while behind the wheel on dates, shes decidedly NOT going to be impressed. Moreover, if shes rolling up windows and locking doors at stoplights, you probably shouldnt have taken that shortcut through the crime-ridden section of town. You get the idea. This applies to ANY situation that makes her uneasy. Its up to YOU to make sure they dont happenever. 2) Have things handled Women want you to have your act together, pardner. If the date is not exactly planned when you pick her up, thats a strong message that you dont. Whatever you do, never ask her where she wants to go when you pick her up for a date. A woman enjoys a man who can lead, in part because (surprise) it makes her feel secure. Inspire confidence that you can make decisions effectively. The more areas of your life (job, finances, masculinity, emotions, etc.) that you can apply this logic to, the better. 3) Dont be a creep I genuinely wish I didnt have to bring this one up, butalasI cannot believe some of the things guys come up with to tell women–let alone the antics they pull–on first dates. Guys, keep it normal, will you? Sure, turn on the charm and the sense of humor. Feel free to be a stand out in all the good ways (as talked about in Deserve What You Want). But if you are being downright weird in hopes of pulling this off, stop it. The acid test here is if you find yourself talking about or doing things that most, if not all, other people would have zero interest in, if even talk about themselves, STOP IT. This goes double for things that are considered outside the mainstream concept of normalcy. If in doubt, dont go there. Leave the stupid human tricks and medical horror stories home. 4) Do not act like a sexual predator (or any kind of predator, actually) Guys, a woman must never, ever feel uncomfortable expressly because you are around. Do not undress her with your eyes when you meet. Monitor the body language you display carefully. An example of what not to do is rubbing your hands together while talking to her. Dont laughI heard about a man doing this very thing, Peter Lorrie style, while talking to a woman on a first date. Im reasonably sure he must have simply been nervous, but to her it seemed like she was about to be his next victim. 5) Be stable OK, you may have read elsewhere how women cant stand predictable men. What is meant here is that women are bored by men whose lives are replete with one boring routine after another. Yes, women love a man of adventure, and by all means be one. They also prefer a man who is pretty much the same guy on the second date as he was on the first. Its also a bonus if he could not go from easy-going jokester to enraged lunatic on the fly, please. Emotional stability is what we are talking about hereget it? 6) Have some integrity when it comes to emotions Tell a woman what your emotional intentions are. She can handle it. This does not mean that you profess your undying love for her within ten minutes (or hoursor days) of meeting her. This does mean that you, as Fergie would so eloquently say, shouldnt funk with her heart. If you make her your exclusive girlfriend, do so because you want to. And reassure her you are all hers. Dont say one thing and feel another. So as you can see, it doesnt take an overbuilt gorilla-beast to protect a woman, does it? The good news is that any man can encourage a woman to feel that safe, secure feeling. All he has to do is know what she is looking for. And this also means, of course, that there are plenty of NFL lineman types out there who fail miserably at the task. What kind of guy are you? Copyright 2006 X & Y Communications Want to hear more? Does Hypnosis Weight Loss Work?

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

By Trevor John The claims are everywhere you look: “Hypnosis Weight Loss Works”. But are the claims advertising hype or do they add up to a loss of dollars in your pocket but no other discernible change? Before we can decide whether hypnosis weight loss really works, let’s have a look at what happens when you choose hypnosis: You can undergo hypnosis in the offices of a trained hypnotherapist or you can buy a program to play in the comfort of your own home. Either way, you’ll be placed into a light trance-like state. Typically you’ll be asked to close your eyes, generally relax (often by taking long deep breaths) and slip into a hypnotic state. This is perfectly safe - we all induce our own hypnotic states when we day dream. Once you are under hypnosis, the hypnotist will start to plant suggestions in your sub-conscious mind. Depending on your hypnotist’s view of why you are overweight and therefore how you need to achieve your weight loss, you will get a different set of instructions. If you want to use hypnosis to lose weight on a low carb diet then you need to make sure that your hypnotist isn’t working against you by planting suggestions that you should avoid fat. Similarly, if you are aiming to use hypnosis for weight loss by more conventional diets, you need to make sure that your hypnotist isn’t about to set you on a different path. You’ve been attracting weight gain up until now. Hypnosis can change that pattern for you. That’s one of the things it is especially good at.
