Router Tables for Any Work Space

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By John C. Baker Its all about the bit. Thats right, a router table is defined by the bits you use in creating some of the most impressive and beautiful shapes that give like to a plain piece of wood. Router tables have long been a staple to the professional woodworkers shop and are quickly finding a niche in the handy-mans garage as well. As more people are interested in adding the distinctive touches of trims and mouldings to their homes and furnishings, they are finding that they can do it themselves by learning to guide wood through a router. But It Looks So Hard! You may think that it is difficult to created bevelled edges or shaped cornices, but the router saws do all the work. If you can guide a piece of planking through a table saw, then you can master the router table. Router table plans are available to take down the learning curve too. These plans show what shapes will develop from different bits, angles and motions with your router. There are even router table plans free online. Bits are the heart behind the capabilities of a router table. Notching and edging patterns are determined by the bit. There are edge bits which create the bevelling on a mantle piece, of straight and rabbetting bits for cutting deep, square notches. Dovetail bits are used in creating the snug fitting found in high-quality drawer construction. Other slot cutters and finger joint bits, such as those available from Whiteside router bits are used to keep cabinet fronts snug inside the edge frames. Specialty router bits can be used for a number of different projects. The cap pieces in fences for example are made using a raised panel or stile bit. The more specialized the bit, the more cuts it can make with one pass through the table. Even miniature router bits are available for making anything from toys to doll houses to fine detailing on furniture. The Tops in Tables Router tables will take up just about the same amount of room in the workshop as the table saw. However, for those with limited space, there are bench top models available. If your bench or table isnt exactly the right height there are height adjusters meant for router tables too. Getting your router aligned to your height is important for added control and precision. What Your Router Table Plans Will Include Router table plans are meant to show more than just the shape a router bit will produce. That is just the basic of what the bit is capable of doing. Add to it the imagination that only a craftsman can provide, and you have unlimited design opportunities. Router table plans and patterns show how angling and adjusting the wood with each pass through the router can create a unique look or duplicate a pattern you want to use. Whether you are capping a fence, fashioning a new fireplace mantle or designing your own unique crown moulding, a router table is the only way to achieve that custom look without the cost of purchasing custom-cut wood. Add the detailing only a router can provide to your next home improvement project. Johnathan Bakers usually makes informative papers on themes corresponding to router table and router table plans. Bass Fishing In The Winter In The North

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Charles White The next few days in Ohio are supposed to be in the 50’s, so, guess what I plan on doing if the lakes thaw out? Yep, go fishing for bass. As you know the bass are not going to spend a lot of energy going after your bait, so offer them something a little larger than usual. A 10″ worm comes to mind, a pig and jig or something to that effect. Where you might have this in the water for 30 seconds in the summer, now it might take 4 or 5 minutes. Work it slow…….very slow. Does this work? Well, one day it was so cold outside I never even got out of the truck, my fishing partner wanted to fish this new lake even though the wind was blowing about 20 miles an hour. Can you imagine my surprise when he came back about 10 minutes later with a bass over 5 pounds? He was working a grape colored worm very, very slow. I have fished in the winter ever since that day. Charles E. White has fished for almost 50 years for bass from California to Florida. In his lifetime, it is estimated that he has caught over 6,000 bass. His biggest bass is a 12 pound 14 ounce that hangs on his wall in his office. Charles has fished with people who have never fished for bass before and taught them how to become successful anglers and also has fished with the Pros in Florida. His new website about fishing for bass is at http://www.bassfishingweekly.com. Making Summer Friendships Last

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

By Deborah Shelton Summertime isnt just about getting dirty, staying up all night, playing in the rain, and going off to camp–Its about meeting new people. Follow these tips to turn your vacation acquaintances into lifelong friends. 1. Summer Memory Book Make the summer last forever by preserving memories in a special book. Fill the plastic sleeves of a photo album with photos, ticket stubs, sections of road maps from summer trips, and other mementos. When youre finished, exchange memory books with your closest summer buddy. 2. Picture Postcards Keep in touch with vacation friends by sending picture postcards. Scan summer photos and print them on cardstock paper, 4 per page. Use scissors to cut individual cards. On the blank side, include your friends address, your return address, and a postage stamp. Dont forget to write a cool message! 3. Pen Pal Club Start your own pen pal club! Swap addresses with your new friends and make a commitment to keep in touch. Be creative dont limit yourself to writing letters. Send an inexpensive gag gift every so often, or an audiotape letter. Send lists of your favorite things. For instance, one month send your pen pals a list of your 20 favorite movies, and then compare your lists. No matter how you decide to keep in touch, dont let summer friendships end when summer ends. How’d You Get That Great Smile?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By Jared Winston What’s the first thing you notice about a person? According to over 60% of people who were asked that in a recent survey, the answer is “their smile.” A great smile is one of those assets that everyone appreciates. For decades, the only way to brighten your smile was with the help of a dentist - but these days, there’s a wide variety of teeth whitening products on the market that can help anyone have a whiter, brighter smile, without the expense and inconvenience of a dentists office visit. Teeth whitening products aren’t exactly new. There have been toothpastes on the market for years that promise to whiten your teeth and give you a brighter, warmer smile. Over the past few years, though, there’s been a wealth of new teeth whitening products on the market. With so many types of products and systems for whitening your teeth available, it can be confusing to choose the one that’s safe and best for you. Teeth Whitening Tray SystemsOne of the most commonly used types of teeth whitening products are tray systems. Essentially, these products consist of a flexible tray that is fitted to your teeth. The tray is designed to hold a bleaching agent in close contact with your teeth for a period of time. Some tray systems are designed to be used in the dentists office, some to be prescribed by a dentist and used at home, and some can be purchased over the counter and used at home. Many people opt to wear the trays at night while they sleep. There are several bleaching agents that are used in teeth whitening products. The one most commonly recommended by dental professionals is a carbamide peroxide 10-22% solution. Carbamide peroxide is a viscous gel form of hydrogen peroxide chosen because it clings to teeth. The better contact that the bleach has with your teeth, the better the effects you’ll get from the whitening procedure. Most over the counter tray systems use hydrogen peroxide instead of carbamide peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is safe, but it doesn’t bleach as quickly. In most cases, if you’re using any at-home system, it will take several sessions a day for several weeks to achieve the same results that your dentist can get in his office in two-three ninety minute sessions. However, youll pay for the speed - a doctor’s office whitening treatment can cost you as much as $500 per session. An at-home system may cost as little as $30 for the total treatment. Teeth Whitening StripsA second popular method of whitening teeth is the use of teeth whitening strips. Like over the counter tray systems, the active ingredient in teeth whitening strips is hydrogen peroxide. Instead of using a fitted tray and mouth guard, teeth whitening strips are designed to stick to your teeth and hold the hydrogen peroxide against them. They’re far more convenient for most people, who can choose to wear them at night or during the day. Usually, they require several 30-minute sessions a day over several weeks time. On the other hand, they’re not as effective as tray-based systems. Because they only cover the front teeth, only those teeth are affected. In addition, because of the fit, they often leave a yellowed area of the teeth near to the gum line. Teeth Whitening Gums and Toothpastes Other teeth whitening products include toothpastes, dental floss and chewing gum. These products contain a very weak solution of peroxide or another whitening agent. Because they don’t stay in contact with your teeth for any length of time, their effect is minimal. However, they are useful in maintaining a brighter smile in conjunction with another teeth whitening method. White teeth and a bright smile can boost your confidence and improve your appearance. For help in choosing the best teeth whitening product for your teeth, consult a dental professional who can advise you which method will work best for you. Copyright Jared Winston, 2006. How to Choose a Mobile Phone

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Philip_Nicosia]Philip Nicosia The first mobile phones, released in the market during the early nineties, were large and clunky devices with low battery life and very limited memory. All this has changed. Todays mobile phones are not only light and compact, but are packed with features. Many of them have camera, MP3 and PDA functions, with the option to download games, programs, ringtones and full-color wallpapers. You cant even call them just mobile phonestheyre almost like mobile offices. With the diversity of features, the variety of shapes and sizes, and the thick competition between mobile phone manufacturers that lead them to release new models every year, its hard to pick which mobile phone to buy. Todays top of the line phones can do almost everything, but which of those features will you really use? Some have camera resolution rivals a decent point and click digital camera; others flip open to reveal a keyboard to let you check and write emails and even surf the web. While its always great to have that kind of power in your pocket (literally), the first and most important thing to consider if your lifestyle. Are you an executive? Do you have to keep track of a lot of meetings and tasks? Do you spend a lot of time away from the office? If so, buying a phone with PDA features will really simplify your life. You dont have to carry too many gadgets with you, and you can make note of the messages you receive directly on to the phones calendar, and set a reminder for meetings and deadlines. On the other hand, a stay at home mom may not need a PDA function, but would probably benefit from a mobile phone with a good camera. You can take instant pictures of your kids (and we all know how those moments pass while you run upstairs to get a camera) and proudly send them to friends and family in the same minute. Most teenagers opt for phones that have the radio and MP3 functions, or have that elusive quality called form and coolness factor. A mobile phone is not just functional, it is also almost an accessory. Certain models are designed to look sleek and beautiful, and are even declared by fashion magazines to be the it model of the year. Others simply are triumphs in ergonomic design, and use materials (from a chic chrome to trendy brights) to communicate a particular image. A few models even allow full customability with changeable cases in a wide variety of colors. You can actually buy all of the shades, and make your mobile phone match your outfit! Aside from your lifestyle, of course another important consideration is price. You will have to set a budget, and then look for the best deals. Check various stores and websites before buying, but remember that cheapest is not always best. Ask if the mobile phone comes with a warranty, how long it lasts, and whether the warranty involves repair or replacement of the unit. Also remember that it is better to pay a little higher for a phone you like and will use for a long time, than to opt for a cheaper phone, and then replace it within months. Mother’s Anguish Choosing Among Two Poisons for Her Son to Receive First Holy Communion

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

By Nancy Guberti A Mothers Anguish choosing among two poisons for her son to receive his First Holy Communion and be accepted as part of the Catholic Family At what cost does it take to be accepted? Why should anything come easy when dealing with the Roman Catholic Church? Just for once, a mother thought she may find solace in the Church that she herself has been a part of since birth. She attended Catholic elementary, high school and college, served as an Eucharistic Minister at Einstein Hospital bringing the Word of God to so many who were physically unable to receive the host. Before she married, she requested that her future husband convert from Greek Orthodox to Roman Catholicism so when they had a family, the children would see the parents receiving as a united family, both mother and father. Blessed with two children, one with serious food allergies, celiac, a liver disorder and GI issues, her youngest son is facing a serious dilemma as he approaches his First Holy Communion. Can special exemptions be made for a child who cannot receive the wheat host, the low-gluten wheat host, the wine containing liquor or the mustum grape juice that has a very low alcohol content of less than 1.0% containing sulfites? If the Catholic Church can grant a special dispensation from the obligation to abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent in order to let the Irish Catholics eat corned beef on St. Patricks Day falling on a Friday during Lent, then why cant a special dispensation be made for innocent children wanting to participate in receiving their First Holy Communion in a suitable manner that will not be unhealthy for them? Why cant the Catholic Church provide a form of Jesus body or blood that will not cause physical harm to a child or adult or anyone for that matter? The answer may surprise you or it may not. It all depends on who you ask. The Bible does not specifically reference that the body of Christ should be made of wheat but men of cloth believe that it was wheat flour that was used at the time of Jesus and that is what they believe the bread that Jesus ate and shared on His Last Supper was made from. I may believe it was made from garbanzo or lentil flour but I am not the one in charge here. Organizations like Catholic Celiac (www.catholicceliacs.org) and the Benedictine Sisters are helping many Catholics by providing information on celiac disease and the Catholic Communion as well as offering a low-gluten host. The issues arise when you cannot consume any wheat, alcohol or sulfites. To date, special dispensations have not been made to allow for wheat-free substitutes or plain grape juice to be consumed as a form of the body and blood of Christ. There are Christian churches that are more flexible with the interpretation of the body and blood of Christ and actually allow substitutes for health reasons. It is amazing how the Roman Catholic Church is so strict with their guidelines that they are willing to turn even the children away from participating in the Holy Communion. Faith can play havoc on your conscious, eat at your core and question your commitment to choose between your Church and your child. Do you protect the health of your child or risk exposing them to a small wafer, a sip of wine, ingesting sulfites, wheat and gluten at the expense of having your child receive their First Holy Communion and being accepted into the lovely congregation of the Roman Catholic Church? The weak give in and follow the norm. One can find comfort when you come up against resistance from others; just remember the words of Martin Luther King, Jr. who stated, The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy. Faith means a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny. My faith leads me to believe that Jesus Christ would accept children with all their disabilities and either heal their broken bodies incapable of receiving His Body and Blood in the form that the Canon Law insists upon or He would change the law itself. Since there are numerous biblical passages that teach us Jesus loved children, their innocence and wanted them to have a strong faith, I know deep in my heart that He would allow all people, regardless or race, age or health issues to be able to receive some form of His Body and Blood. Must everything be so black and white? What about all the problems the Catholic church is facing with their priests conduct; why can they find solutions for their problems and we must be asked to forgive and move on? It just seems hypocritical. Besides waiting to talk with Jesus in the next life, is there anyone else that can help resolve this dilemma? Must the children and adults with health issues feel like social outcasts or will the Catholic Church embrace and accept them just like Jesus would embrace them? By Nancy A. Is The Jabra Bt800 Bluetooth Headset For Cell Phones Any Good?

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Ray]John Ray This highly anticipated Bluetooth headset has some head turning features. When we heard about the new features of the jabra bt800 we just couldnt wait to try this one out for ourselves. You first notice an elegant silver and black finish and a blue lit LCD screen. A new feature that we havent seen before is the caller ID display which is located on the inside of the device to keep others around you from reading it when you are on a call. The mini LCD screen gives you the ability to see who is calling and be able to cycle through recently received calls. Although you can use this feature to call back the last number that you received, you cannot check your phonebook or call back old number in your call log. The caller ID feature works flawlessly even when tested at the full 30 feet Bluetooth maxes out at. Having a call display feature on the Bluetooth head set really frees yourself from your cell phone. Pairing is somewhat of a taunting task. Jabra states in the manual the primary way of pairing the handset to a Bluetooth cell phone is with a tiny port near the multifunction button. While the primary pairing method works fine you have to use a styles to press the tiny port, and to carry it with you at all times is absurd. There is a second way to pair the device with the jabra Bluetooth menu. As you may have noticed this with jabra Bluetooth head sets that this is a lot different from the BT250 behind the ear style. Jabra has gone back to the traditional design of sitting over the ear. The design the jabra bt800 uses is very comfortable and worked fine while doing very active activities, such as jogging or biking. Sound quality was excellent. Inbound sounds were sharp and crisp and the people on the other end of the conversation reported to hear us very clearly.
